Sierra del Carmen Pano1-Edit

Sierra del Carmen from Rio Grande Village Overlook

This year, mid-April was a fantastic time to visit Big Bend. Sufficient rains the past few months provided a rare display of wildflowers. It was also a good time for night photography with dark skies and the Milky Way being visible in the southern sky.

Our group consisted of Rick, Terry, Bruce and myself. We spent a couple of nights at Chisos Mountain Lodge and three at Terlingua.  Click here to see the itinerary.

These photos were taken with a Nikon D300S and either a Nikkor 18-200 mm or 14-24 mm lens. All were processed with Adobe LightRoom and NIK.

The trip yielded a bunch of new wildflowers species that have been added to my Texas Wildflowers site.
