For such a seemingly barren, arid and hot place, the Big Bend surprises many with a huge number of plant species. A small fraction are shown here, and each trip yields some blooms not recorded before. As of March 29, 2020, there are 188 identified species and variants here.

These photos were taken in Big Bend National Park, Big Bend Ranch State Park to the west, and  parts of Brewster County outside the parks.
