Description Habitat: Dry, gravelly, rocky slopes and ledges, often on canyon walls.
Plant:Very conspicuous, shrubby, sprawling, low-growing annual up to 12 inches tall.
Leaves: Large green leaves, 2 to 4 inches across on long petioles, round in outline with lobed or toothed edges and covered with fine, stinging hairs.
Inflorescence: Showy, large, yellow, funnel-shaped flowers, about 2 inches across, with many (50-plus) long yellow stamens; blossoms closed in the morning.
Bloom period: May to November.
