Description Habitat: Dry desert environments; open brush and scrub,rocky outcrops, ledges
Plant: Perennial subshrub 6 to 24 inches tall with thick, fleshy brownish-red stems, simple or with a few branches.
Leaves: Small leaves, single or crowded on short shoots, linear-spatulate to narrowly obovate 1/2 to 2-3/4 inches long, usually unlobed, sometimes shallowly and rarely deeply, 3-lobed.
Inflorescence: Dioecious (male and female flowers on separate plants); small, pinkish-white urn-shaped flowers with sepals united at bases; male (staminate) flowers in terminal or axial clusters, female (pistillate) flowers usually occurring singly.
Bloom Period: Spring and summer.
