Description Habitat: Dry, gravelly soils, rocky areas below 5000 ft.
Plant: Perennial shrub up to 3 feet tall and wide.
Leaves: Elliptic, lanceolate, linear, or linear-lanceolate leaves up to 2 inches long, growing almost parallel to the stems; margins somewhat dentate or entire; bottom surface densely gland-dotted, upper may be smooth, somewhat hairy and gland-dotted.
Inflorescence: Rayless flower heads are 3/4-inch across; each floret has two asymmetrical lips with one larger than the other, each with small teeth at ends; brush-like seed heads.
Bloom Period: May to October (following rains).
