Description Habitat: Rocky soils in desert areas, canyons.
Plant: Open perennial, 2 to 5 feet tall, slender stalks with solitary flower heads.
Leaves: Leaves either shallow or deeply-lobed, sessile, with 3 to 9 linear lobes, less than 3/4-inch to more than 4 inches long; short, thin hairs on surfaces, glandular underneath.
Inflorescence: Single compound blossoms with 13 to 18 yellow, deeply veined ray florets and more than 100 yellow-brown to golden disk florets.
Blooming Period: May to September.
