North Pacific Passage to Japan

Ocean Cruise from Vancouver to Tokyo via Alaska

Otaru, Arrival in Japan

After 8 days since we left Kodiak, we were happy to be setting foot on land again. Our first port of call in Japan was the big island of Hokkaido at Otaru, a small city adjacent to Sapporo. We sailed into Ishikara Bay on a beautiful, sunny morning. After clearing customs and immigration procedures in the cruise terminal, we took a Viking bus tour of Sapporo, and returned to our ship in the late afternoon.
