We docked at Regensburg along the Danube and boarded a bus for the drive to Munich for a tour of the city. Munich is the capital of the German state of Bavaria and the third largest city in Germany (after Berlin and Hamburg).  Regensburg is an ancient city with a long history, and was the site for the embarkation of the German forces in the Second Crusade in 1147.

While we were in Munich, our boat relocated upstream along the Altmühl River (part of the Main-Danube Canal) at Riedensburg, where we reboarded for the trip upstream to Nuremburg.
