Description Habitat: Gravelly soils in desert environments; hillsides, flats and roadsides.
Plant: Erect annual 2 to 4 feet tall, ascending branches with pubescent hairs appressed against the surfaces.
Leaves: Alternate leaves with 7 oblanceolate leaflets 1/3 to 3/4-inch long with pointed tips; upper surfaces smooth and lower with appressed pubescent hairs.
Inflorescence: Numerous flowers in raceme 7 to 18 inches long, each 5/8-inch long, 5 petals, blue to blue/purple, banner with white spot near base.
Bloom Period: January to May.
