The Basque Country & Northern Spain

Santander

Calabria

One of our day trips with Alliance Schlumberger was to Santander, the capital of Cantabria province, which lies just outside Basque Country, and the Cave of Altamira several miles away. Santander is located on the coast and has economy based on tourism, fishing and industry, It is a beautiful city, the more impressive considering that much of it was destroyed by fire in 1941.
